SMS- and positioning solution save lives

In a unique joint effort between Södersjukhuset, Karolinska Institutet, SOS Alarm and LEKAB creative thinking and new technology has come together resulting in new hope for those that suffer cardiac arrest. Some 600 cardiac arrests takes place every year in the Stockholm area and the survival rate has been depressively low. For cardiac arrests, the time factor is the single most important factor. With this project we hope to attract 5000 CPR educated volunteers. The solution positions the volunteers and sends SMS alarms to those within a specified geographical area, maximizing the probability of getting there earlier than the ambulance personnel, thus vastly increasing the odds of a positive outcome for the person suffering a cardiac arrest.
